About as expected January 23, 2010 Gerald S. Sibits Jr. (Cleveland, OH) Not the most powerful receiver but the sound was better than expected. Had some issues initially but once I used the reset button, it worked fine. I use it in my spare vehicle and for the price, I'm pretty happy with it. I haven't used all the features but it does play the mp3 just fine. The HD feature is a little annoying as it goes in and out of HD. Plus, on some stations it keeps looping back a couple of seconds. Never had this happen with any other radios. For a spare vehicle and occasional use, I like it.
Almost Perfect October 21, 2009 Luis Perez (Texas, USA) Great Cd player, with tons of features. The only down side is that my iPod just didn't quite work with it, but otherwise it is perfect. Great buy.
Great Unit for the Money October 11, 2009 D. Killion (Tucson, AZ) I purchased this for about $55 from Amazon. You can't beat the features for the money. I installed this a few months ago in my Jeep and all the features (that I have tried) are still working great. The ipod control through the deck is not the best. It doesn't seem to always follow the playlist like it's supposed to. My unit came with the J-link cable (unlike what some people reported). Overall I would recommend this unit if you want a lot for the money.
Excellent at $50, but a joke at $150 September 14, 2009 Bryan Paschke (St. Charles, MO USA) I think I got one of the good ones. Everything I've tested (I don't have an ipod, I'm cheap) works just fine and has for the last 3 months.
pros: Works, decent sound, good HD tuner, was a good value at $50...and WALMART still carries the unit at that price.
cons: THE PROGRAMMERS ARE LAZY IDIOTS. The head will happily read a 4 gig SD card (not hd SD, but just SD) or USB device, but WILL ONLY ACCESS THE FIRST 256 SONGS. IDIOTS. Further, the display only scrolls THE FIRST 40 CHARACTERS of path, title and MP3 info in each of these modes. I've heard it does better with the ipod....I would hope so!
Overall: good value if you don't buy it at $150. I suspect that people who are having trouble with reliability did a half-***ed job of installation. I anchored mine properly with a decent custom install kit, braced it securely, soldered the connections and haven't had any troubles.
Complicated!!! September 5, 2009 Daniel G. Links (New Mexico) This Jensen stereo is great for playing my ipod, or the radio, but is complicated when trying to play an SD card. It is NOT INTUITIVE!
I can play MP3s on my PC easily, but this requires learning their method of storing songs.
It has one oddity that I haven't troubleshot yet, it will be playing music on the radio and it will self switch to the ipod and visa versa. I don't know if it is defective or I am not doing something wrong.
I would want something that is more intuitive for my next purchase, less time consuming to learn operations
